Observator is the news program on Antena 1, a major Romanian TV channel and part of Intact Media Group. Recently they decided to switch to HD broadcast group-wide and refresh some of the content and graphics. I’ve worked on this project for a good part of 2017 as part of a great team. My task was to handle some of the motion graphics, to animate the elements designed by Cristian Mare – the art director. Most of the work I did were animated examples used by the ORAD team to fully understand and implement the design developed in the creative department. Later in the project, I have centralized those animations and generated editable After Effects projects used for offline export of the headlines sequence, next sequence, promo-end, transitions, etc.
During the project I’ve been asked to find an animation for the approved circular logo created by Cristian. I came up with the sphere slices animation (detailed at the bottom of this page). The concept was “slices of the world” that capture different moments and events of the day. We used the resulting graphic device to introduce the headline sequence, next sequence, transitions, etc. Also, the looping slices animation made the corner logo more dynamic.
The project was coordinated by Radu Bogdan “Crizze” – lead of the creative department and on upper levels by Alin Romașcan – head of news and Cristina Jura - managing the brand.
