I have started to work on this project in the spring of 2018. It is a website for Travelogy - a fresh company from New Zealand that provides custom tours in luxury motorhomes, mainly around the southern island.
The project consists of two parts – the branding/logo design and the art for the website.
In the first phase - creation of the logo – the clients requested a simple, versatile, hi-end but friendly logo. It also had to provide great scalability to the brand. The final version chosen from several options is actually a customized variant of a wonderful typeface I bought some time ago but never got to use it.
For the next phase – travelogy.co.nz – the brief mentioned a clean, fresh, friendly and highly image-oriented design. On the main cover I tried to combine three key elements that, in my opinion, define their business: a motorhome, open road and breathtaking landscapes. One thing that differentiates New Zealand is the unique and fascinating Mãori culture. This is the reason for the abundance of Mãori-inspired element present in the design (including some elements borrowed from the first phase – logo variants that made it into the final design as key visual items). I also included a yellow-lime-ish color to add a drop of modern friendliness. Most of the images are from online stock footage platforms, same as a few graphic elements that completed the design. The art includes layouts for tablet and mobile use.
The front and back-end development are done by Bogdan from code-evolution.ro. By using a script to guide the scrolling from section to section on each page we were able to use a design without top or side bar as a support for the logo and menu. The art includes layouts for tablet and mobile use.
